I’m Heather

I grew up in the church, but didn’t really get what it meant to be a Christian. I didn’t even know you could have a personal relationship with Jesus until I was a teenager.

Once I figured it out, I went all in. I was on fire for Christ, but… I struggled to find the help I needed to grow my faith. I went to church and youth group. I tried to read my Bible. But… I struggled.

Where this all began

This ministry was founded by Shelley Hitz in 2007. It was birthed out of her own journey to find her true beauty in Christ. You’ll find much of her story on the pages of this website.

Her openness and vulnerability as she reveals her own story of hope and healing will inspire and encourage you. Shelley doesn’t hold back but shares:

In addition to opening up about her life, Shelley created a place where girls and women from around the world could share their experiences. A place where teen girls could be honest about their struggles with self-esteem, body issues, and life in general… and where God fits in it all.

In 2008, I (Heather) stumbled onto Shelley’s website and instantly knew it was the resource I wished I would have had when I was a teen girl. I became a volunteer for Find Your True Beauty and took over as ministry director in 2016.
